Edge def. Evan Bourne in a Body Slam Challenge; Mark Henry def. Edge in a Body Slam ChallengeIt’s safe to say that Edge and Raw’s General Manager will not be exchanging Christmas cards this year. Last week, the GM punished The Rated-R Superstar for earlier transgressions he made by requiring him to battle The Great Khali twice. This week, the GM arranged for Edge to compete against Evan Bourne in a Body Slam Challenge as designated by the Raw Roulette Wheel. The Ultimate Opportunist used his size advantage to prevail in the contest, but then he crossed the line and Speared Bourne for no apparent reason. That’s when the GM prescribed a second dose of punishment in the form of Mark Henry. The Rated-R Superstar was forced to take his medicine against The World’s Strongest Man with the same stipulation. This time, Edge would have too much difficulty powering his sizable foe overhead and was eventually slammed in defeat by Henry.
The Nexus def. WWE Champion Sheamus, John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho & Randy Orton in a 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination MatchTiming really is everything. At the conclusion of the night’s main event, The Nexus’ leader Wade Barrett proved that as he stood as proud and tall as London’s Big Ben.Earlier in the evening, the Englishman was in the right place at the right time as he punished The Undertaker with a devastating slam to the canvas. At night’s end, he – along with his Nexus cohorts – emerged victorious in a 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match against WWE Champion Sheamus, John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho & Randy Orton.Almost immediately, Jericho and Edge ditched their team. At a distinct disadvantage, The Celtic Warrior finally relented and was pinned by Heath Slater. Next up, Cena found himself in trouble against the overwhelming odds and eventually succumbed to the 450° Splash of Justin Gabriel. Barrett’s fortuitous evening concluded, though, when Orton faced a 3-on-1 scenario. Although Orton has proven a staunch and worthy adversary of The Nexus and managed to eliminate Gabriel and Michael Tarver, he nonetheless was unable to overcome Barrett’s offense in a gutting defeat.Owing to their mutual distrust of one another, the team of former world champions appeared to implode from lack of teamwork. Not surprising, perhaps, given the fact that they will be competing for the WWE Title at Night of Champions in three weeks. In the opening salvo for the coveted title, however, it appears Barrett has fired off one jolly good shot.

It's worth noting that the official Syfy website lists Edge, as well as The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Beth Phoenix and Michelle McCool, as appearing on Friday Night SmackDown when the program debuts on the network this October.Regarding Edge, he was originally supposed to remain on SmackDown before WWE's mentality during the Draft changed to making the Raw brand the company's top priority. A renewed push for the Smackdown brand is expected this fall given that Vince McMahon has predicted with its move to Syfy that the audience for SmackDown will eventually be as large as Raw's.Edge was given the weekend off to attend the wedding of former WWE performers Nick Cvjetkovich (a/k/a Kizarny) and Stacy Carter (a/k/a Miss Kitty). Edge, Cvjetkovich and Christian were friends growing up in Orangeville, Ontario. The trio also started their wrestling careers together training at Ron Hutchison's gym in Toronto.~Rajah.com~Wrestling Observer Newsletter
